1888/1900: Official stampless covers (6) with OHMS printed cover to Melbourne endorsed "GPO" at lower left in manuscript struck with superb "PERTH / WESTERN AUSTRALIA" cds (Nov 26) in black; 1897 cover to Winchester, UK struck with "Governor of Western Australia / Coat of Arms / Frank Stamp" in violet, Perth cds in black and straight line "OFFICIAL PAID" in red; 1900 OHMS printed cover to Germany with "Accountant / GPO Perth" violet dated cachet and circular "Official / Paid" datestamp in black; and 1900 local cover with "Governor of Western Australia / ♚ / Frank Stamp" in blue; 1901 OHMS Returned Letter Office envelope used to Southern Cross cancelled by Perth / GPO duplex and 1901 rare usage of OHMS Returned Letter Office envelope with "Her" deleted and replaced by "His" at top used locally within Perth (both these last envelopes ex the Peter Basterfield collection, Cavendish, Derby, 8 April 1999). Condition varies but mainly fine, a rare group.

V over Crown, the collection on leaves with 1 d. rose-carmine, 2 d. yellow (3, one with wmk. upright), 4 d. chestnut pair, 5 d. bistre, 8 d. apple-green (6, incl. a block of four), 9 d. yellow-orange (3), 10 d. red, 2 s. red on yellow (3, differing shades), 2 s. 6 d. single and block of four, 5 s. emerald, 10 s. deep mauve (2) and £ 1 orange-brown all fine unused; the set used with duplication and a few multiples incl. 10 s. mauve in a vertical strip of three and a fine cds used £ 1 value; a fine lot (42 items) Gi = £ 3'000+.

Typographed by De La Rue 1885/98: The collection on leaves with the set of eight values from ½ d to 1 s. unused incl. both shades of the 1 s., used examples incl. duplication and ½ unused Plate number block of twelve; 1893 cover with single 2½ d. from Albany to Adelaide tied by "A" duplex, 1893 cover with single 2 d. used from Fremantle to Adelaide tied "F" duplex, 1896 cover with 2½ d. pair registered from Canning Mills to London, 1898 cover with 2½ d. from Brisbane Street to London tied in blue, and a remarkable triple rate registered Winch Brothers cover to Colchester franked by 1893 1 d. on 3 d. (5), ½ d. yellow green and 2½ d. blue pair, 1898 issue 1 d. carmine blocks of eight and eighteen, 2 d. yellow in an imperforate Plate Proof pair marginal at right with gum; 2 d. yellow block of four, 2½ d. blue Plate number block of four etc. An attractive lot (39 items)

Perth GPO, Governor's Residence, View of Kalgoorlie, Dry Blowing for Gold, Canning River, King River, Serpentine Falls, coloured 'Stamp' postcards (3 different, one Zieher, one 'La Poste'), 1901 card with GB ½ blue-green pair cancelled at Fremantle and a similar usage with GB 1 d. lilac and framed PAQUEBOT, card franked 2 d. yellow to Mauritius, 1903 card from Kalgoorlie to Hungary, 1908 card with 1 d. cancelled at "Norseman" (where this describer was once a nickel miner for a fortnight) and used to Shanghai, China etc. Fine quality.

1888 (March-April): Colour Changes, the album pages with delightful 1 d. carmine-pink in an unused block of twelve (4 x 3) of lovely colour (positions 7-10 / 47-50) with most stamps unmounted og., 2 d. grey in a fine unused block of four with large part og., 4 d. red-brown unused (2), part or large part og.; together with an 1891 cover bearing 1 d. carmine-pink (2) used from Albany to Melbourne.
