1942: Two large envelopes, both bearing 'France Libre' frankings, cancelled with "PONDICHERY INDE FRANCAISE" both addressed to director of the periodical 'Echos de Syrie'. One envelope with 8 Cash. and 18 Cash on 30 c. (Yvert 151, 159); the other 1 Fa. and 2 Cash with overprint Lorraine Cross in carmine colour, 'FRANCE LIBRE' in black (Yvert 161, 177). Both covers, bear a small round censor cancel with Lorraine Cross and 'CP' aside; boxed sender cancel "EXPÉDITEUR GOUVERNEMENT DES ETABLISSEMENTS FRANCAISES DANS L' INDE PONDICHERRY', Syrian arrival on the reverse. Both envelopes with some wear/faults from size and war condition (stamps perfect), but well presenting - rare stamps and rare destination!

1842/1910, Selection of nine covers, comprising four early stampless examples, four which have various combinations of Cérès French frankings, sent from Post Offices in India and a 1910 envelope unfranked with a combination of Pondicherry and GB postage due marks, noted; 1849 Mauritius to Bordeaux and 1850 Liverpool to Mauritius both with scarce "Packet" marks, two examples sent from India to France endorsed via steamers out of Bombay (1842) and Madras (1854) respectively, both with interesting paid and packet mail marks, as well as four example dated between 1873-1881 sent from Pondicherry to France, one with Pondicherry paid, all with different frankings and three different rates, three which are tied by attractive datestamps, condition is generally fine with just the odd fault which is to be expected with such mailings, a very scarce and attractive group.

Karikal 1859/1948: The collection on leaves and loose, with covers / cards / postal stationery and a few stamps and pieces used from Karikal, with 1859 single and double rate covers with India ½ a. blue cancelled "C/111" obliterators, 1877 cover with ½ a. blue cancelled by "6-M-21" obliterator, 1889 and 1890 Official postal stationery card in green and ¼ a. blue card used, 1892 registration receipt from French PO, later registered usages, advertising covers, Sub-Post Office usages, WWII censored mail (2), 1945 stationery cut-out used on cover, Value Payable cover with pink label. Condition varies but an unusual accumulation (80 items).

Chandernagor 1833 (Aug 14): Entire letter from Chandernagor to Paris endorsed "Brougham p. Bourbon", forwarded in manuscript on reverse "Reçue et achéminée par H. Bechelé, Bourbon 17 8bre 1832", thence via the Cape to Nantes with framed "PAYS D'OUTREMER" and entry cds (Feb 16, 1833) in black and rated '8' décimes due to pay in manuscript. A journey time of 188 days, a fine entire.

Mahé 1880c.: India ½ a. blue postal stationery envelope, a used example to Mangalore cancelled by bold strike of experimental "MAHE / 9-M-14" duplex in black (Nov 28). Reverse with Mangalore arrival (Nov 30).

Chandernagor 1898: India 1 a. on 1½ a. blue postal stationery card, a used example addressed to to Cayenne, Guyane Française, cancelled by "Chandernagor" cds (Nov 26) in black. "Sea Post Office / C" cds of transit and carried on the to Suez. London transt (Dec 10), thence via New York (Dec 17) to Cayenne with arrival (Jan 17, 1899). An extraordinary destination.

Mahé 1895: India 2 a. 6 p. postal stationery envelope addressed to a Missiionary in Victoria, Cameroons, West Africa endorsed "via Brindisi & Liverpool", cancelled by MAHE cds (July 8) in black. Reverse with "Sea Post Office / A" cds (July 12) and carried from Bombay to Suez on P&O "Caledonia". London cds (July 26) of transit in red on reverse. One small worm hole. Probably written from the Basel Mission in Chombala, an extraordinary destination.

Chandernagor 1899/1911: Small group of covers/cards (8) on exhibit leaves with 1899 Inde 10 c. card to Germany cancelled "Chandernagor / Inde" cds, 1902 inc-coming cover from Great Britain to Chandernagor franked 1 d. red wrongly taxed on arrival in India, 1903 ¼ a brown card to Mahé, 1905 French 15 c. envelope used to Lyon and a rare registered / AR usage at 40 c. to Paris and 1911 cover underpaid with India ½ a. to Colombo re-addressed to Saigon where taxed. A fine group.

Mahé 1909: India ½ a. green postal stationery envelope to the Basel German Mission at Chombala, Mahé, mailed from a passenger on the Austrian Lloyd Steamer at Trieste and cancelled by bold "KOERBER / OE. LLOYD" datestamp (Oct 11) in black. Underpaid on arrival and taxed with "Overland Postage / Due / 1 a." charge (double the internal deficiency). reverse with Suez, Calicut, Mahe and Chombala (Nov 2) cds's. Small closed tear to envelope at right but a remarkable usage.

Karikal 1898 (April 6): Cover sent unpaid from Karikal with triangular "T" marking and "Inde / Karikal" despatch cds on obverse, carried by the "Indus" to Saigon, re-directed from Saigon (April 19) to Phnom-Penh and taxed on arrival with imperforate Postage Due 10 c. and 20 c. black pair tied by "Phnom-Penh / Cambodge" arrival cds's (April 21). Some creasing but unusual.
