1823 Entire from Bartfeld, Hungary to London endorsed "pr Wien, Brussell, Ostende & Harwich" with Bartfeld handstamp and endorsement and three differing "Charge" handstamps, orange "REGISTERED / (Crown)" (Willcocks L.1127) applied upon arrival in London. An early example of the first London Registered handstamp, only mail to or from abroad permitted to be sent by registered mail at this date. Photo on Page 245.

QV-QEII Covers, cards and wrappers (75) and pieces (430), the majority with London printed matter cancels containing various London district or office initials or telegraphic codes; also inspectors handstamps (27) including "S.E" obliterating a 1d charge mark on a 1921 postcard with a stamp removed in transit, "I.S" on a 1912 card written at Dieppe with a French stamp cancelled in London, etc. An interesting collection in an S.G. album, virtually all KGV or earlier. (505).

1845-61 Covers and an entire letter all with distinctive "2" charge marks deleted or applied in error with 1845 "2" of Romsey on a local cover, crossed through and apparently delivered free of charge, the wax seal with an official coat of arms; 1846 Buntingford "2" applied in error on 1846 entire letter to Italy and 1851-67 covers franked 1d with "2" charge marks of Hastings or Bury St. Edmunds both crossed out, the covers presumably deemed to be under 1⁄2oz. (4).
