Lot 1704 - g.b postal history railway stamps and letters - Argyll Etkin Ltd Worldwide Stamps and Postal HistoryMidland & Great Northern Joint Committee. 1921 Commercial cover to India bearing a 2d letter stamp surcharged "3" in red and again surcharged "4" in black tied by a violet station handstamp and KGV 1d pair with manuscript cancel, all stamps then cancelled by a London E.C machine, arrival backstamp of Karachi. A scarce stamp on a commercial cover and a very unusual use to India; letters addressed abroad were not supposed to be accepted as railway letters. Photo on Page 245.
