Egyptian Consular Post Office abroad in Beirut, Ingoing 1870 (Oct 28): Letter sheet from Adana, Turkey to Beirut, bearing Egypt 1867 Penasson 1 pi. rose-red, some perf. imperfections, tied by two strikes of retta mute obliterator in blue. Reverse on arrival struck with all-Arab intaglio 'Posta Masria Bairout' seal handstamp in black of the Egyptian post office. Scotch remnants, letter sheet splitted along the edges, fixed by hinges, despite these faults an item of extreme importance. Cert. B.P.A. (2002).

Note: The Latakia Office was open from July 1870 until February 1872. 
Reference: Smith states that the consular office negative seals '.. are amongst the rarest postmarks of the consular offices ..' and he confirms that he knows only of one cover with this seal handstamp from Bairout.

Egyptian Consular Post Office abroad in Alexandretta 1871 (Nov 8): Letter sheet from Alexandretta to Beirut, bearing Egypt 1867 1 pi. rose-red, tied by “V. R. POSTE EGIZIANE ALESSANDRETTA" cds (Smith scarcity factor = 175) with information strike alongside. Reverse with crisp  “V. R. POSTE EGIZIANE BAIROUT” arrival cds (Nov 10). Minor toning on the cover, some on the perforation, nevertheless a rare and fine Shipmail cover, only four such recorded. Signed Sorani.

Note: The Alexandretta Office was open from July 1870 until February 1872.

Suez Canal Company 1868 (July 8): 1 c. black, an unused block of twelve (2 x 6), good margins all round and of fine appearance but for yellowing of the paper through ther browned original gum. One of two minor nicks in right margin and horizontal creases below top block of four and another through ninth and tenth stamps but an extremely rare large multiple of the key value to the set. 1874: Official stampless cover from Ministry of Finance in Cairo to Constantinople with good strike of rare "ISCANDERIYA" circular negative seal, unusual "Poste Egiziane / Cairo" cds of despatch - error month inverted and all figures turned 45 degrees - fine "Poste Khedevie Egiziane / Alessandria" at left (Dec 10) and reverse with Constantinople arrival cds (Dec 17). SUEZ cds adjacent; further 1 pi. red covers with 1872 combination covers (2) with Italy 40 c. carmine and a piece with same; 1874 litho 1 pi. on cover to Cairo, 1875 cover to USA witrh 3 x 1 pi. red, 1878 single franking to USA, 1878 registered cover from Atfe to Cairo, 1878 cover from Suez to USA franked 1 pi. red pair, 1879 cover from Alexandria at triple rate, 1879 single frankings to Germany (2) and Italy (4) etc. (21 items).
