(11 September, 1841), to Redruth, an exceptionally-fresh and most attractive cover of great rarity. Cert. BPA (1979) and RPSL (2023) states "..red Maltese Cross.". Gi. AS51va = £24'000.

To the reverse a Washford cds in black (14 March 1880). Flap and part of back missing. Scarce. One of ten covers recorded franked with this combination; three which are philatelically inspired. Comes with an 1881 cover franked with 1 d. venetian red and 1 d. lilac sent locally within London and used in the first month of the 1 d. lilac's issue. Scarce. Fewer than ten covers known. Lot 4029A - grossbritannien - Corinphila Auction AG Auction 333-341 Western Australia & Great Britain - Day 31862: 9 d. bistre, plate 2, without hair lines, wmk. emblems, used on a mourning cover in combination with 1865 3 d. rose, plate 4, wmk. emblems, sent from Mallow, Cork, Ireland to Melbourne, Australia, dated 17 August 1865, tied by the Mallow '321' Irish spoon cancel in black, endorsed 'Via Southampton'. To reverse a London transit cds in blue (18 August) and a single circle arrival datestamp in blue-green (9 October). A fine and rare example, especially out of Ireland to Australia. Only five mixed franking 9 d. covers recorded, three of which are at the 1 shilling rate with the 3 d. rose. Comes with an additional cover franked with a combination of 9 d. straw plate 4 and a 3 d. rose plate 17. Has faults. Nonetheless rare with fewer than 10 recorded.
