1940, 2¢ Defense (Scott 900), block of 30, double paper variety from splicing together two rolls to avoid the time consuming process of re-feeding the paper into the press. These splicing varieties were intended for rejection, but this block somehow avoided detection. The stamps were spliced together before printing and gumming with scotch tape and printed and gummed over tape, o.g., never hinged, Fine to Very Fine. Estimate $200 - 300.
