British Protectorate 1815-1864 1859: (½ d.) orange, a single example with large margins and portion of adjoining stamp at right, overlapped by (1 d.) blue with good to just shaved margins, on July 1859 entire letter from Corfu to Cefalonia tied by oval framed "FRANCA" in black with small "CORFU" cds in blue at left (July 30). Hooded "CEFALONIA" arrival above (Aug 2) also in blue. The stamps, per regulations should have been placed with the 1 d. blue on obverse and the ½ d. orange on reverse. Central file fold well away from the adhesives, some small ink splashes otherwise a superb and extremely rare entire. Signed Pfenninger. Cert. Simmermacher (2011).
