Russian P.O. in Port Said, Ingoing 1868 (Oct 27): Entire letter ex Mavroidi correspondence from Alexandria to Port Said, endorsed "Par Vapeur Russe", struck on reverse by “PORT ALEKSANDRIYA” despatch cds (Tchilinghirian fig 256), front with „P.P.“ of Alexandria (Tchilinghirian fig 253) and "PORT-SAID" arrival cds (Tchilinghirian fig 261) arrival cds of the next day, all in blue. A rare entire opened up for presentation, a most interesting usage to the post office in Port Said, signed Sorani.
Note: Port Said is the Mediterranean entrance to the Suez Canal, inaugurated in 1869. A Russian PO was opened there in 1867 and Port Said became a regular port of call for several Russian shipping lines. The Russian PO’s in Alexandria and Port Said were closed on 1 October 1875.

Russian P.O. in Alexandria 1867 (April 24): Entire letter from Alexandria to Beirut bearing 2 pi. blue and rose with good to large margins, tied by light “PORT ALEKSANDRIYA” datestamp (Tchilinghirian fig 256), in addition upon arrival by bold rhomboid '783' numeral of Beirut, both in blue, a despatch information strike alongside. An interesting double cancellation presumably due to the light Alexandria obliteration. Cert. Mikulski (1999).

Russian P.O. in Alexandria, Ingoing 1870 (Dec 23): Entire letter from Lattakia to Alexandria, opened up for display, bearing 1868 1 kop. brown and 5 kop. blue, perf. 11½, tied by indistinct rhomboid numeral in blue, both crossed by neat filing crease, LATAKIA despatch cds (Tchilinghirian fig. 208) in blue alongside. On reverse a very rare "ALEKSANDRIISKOE AGENTSTVO ROPiT 25 XII 1870" large sized arrival cds with inverted year slug (Tchilinghirian fig. 838) in blue. An attractive cover with an impressive provenance, cert. Mikulski (2000).

The 5 kopeck adhesive defective, nevertheless an appealing cover, cert. BPA (2002).

Russian P.O. in Alexandria 1874 (Jan 22): Lettersheet with forwarder 'HESS & Co' from Trieste via Alexandria, despatched there at the Russian Post and directed to Beirut, bearing 1872 1 kop. brown on vertically laid paper and 5 kop. blue on horizontally laid paper, tied by rhomboid '785' numeral of Alexandria in blue, on reverse ALEKSANDRIYA (Tchilinghirian fig 260) arrival and despach cds's (Jan 18 & 22) in blue as well as BEIRUT arrival cds (Tchilinghirian fig. 208) in black. An interesting cover, a combined usage of forwarded and Russian Levant mail.

Russian P.O. in Alexandretta 1878 (June 19): Large-sized envelope from Constantinople to the Persian consulate in Alexandretta, bearing Russian Levant 1876 10 kop. carmine & green surcharged '8' kop. in black, pair and single example, tied by "KONSTANTIN" despatch cds in blue (Tchilinghirian fig 12), ALEKSANDRETA cds (Tchilinghirian fig 200) in the same shade alongside.
Note: A rare multiple usage of this surcharged adhesive, issued in Constantinople. Most other Levant offices sold the 10 kopeck adhesives at the new rates of 8 kop. from 1876 or 7 kop. from 1879, respectively.
