Falmouth/Plymouth. 1810 Part letter from an Officer in the Peninsula, with interesting content regarding a British defeat by French soldiers disguised as peasants, carried by Packet to Plymouth with a superb "CADIZ / 13 NO 13 / 1810 / F" datestamp in green. The Falmouth Packets were diverted to Plymouth from November 10th 1810 following a Naval Mutiny at Falmouth, and continued to use Plymouth until January 1811. During this two month period the Falmouth Packet handstamps were taken to Plymouth and used there. Very scarce. Photo on Page 237.

Compulsory Registration. 1914 Cover charged 2d with London R.L.O label explaining that it contained valuables and so was registered upon its return to sender, and an R.L.O cover with similar printed explanation and charge; 1912-30 covers compulsory registered and charged 4d (2) or 6d; and eight ‘Caution’ labels unused or removed from covers. 1d Mulready reproductions and forgeries including a good reproduction produced by W.T Glasscock & Co, stamp dealers, posted from Bishop Stortford to London in 1883 bearing a 1d lilac; an unused facsimile lettersheet containing an advert for "The Jubilee of the Penny Postage Mulready stationery cabinet" (which was produced by John Dickinson & Co and contained a facsimile of a Mulready envelope in blue and gold); Lord Holland forgery; Whitakers Almanac reproduction postally used (faults), etc. (6).

Parliamentary/Royalty/Official Mail. 1844-1983 Covers and cards including House of Lords or House of Commons datestamps with 1913 registered cover bearing KGV 1d (3) each tied by "HOUSE OF COMMONS S.W" c.d.s and 1928 (Feb 8) 1d stationery envelope cancelled "HOUSE OF COMMONS / S.W" skeleton c.d.s (only the second recorded example, the address unfortunately deleted); Official mail including 1860 Official Paid cover to Richard Cobden M.P in Algiers; royal covers with cypher cachets, Balmoral Castle datestamps (5, one dated ‘90’ in error for the year ‘09’), etc. (c.190).

Red F size formula registration envelope, format RF3 but with the lettering differing to the issued G.B envelopes and the flap on the front, possibly an essay or an Empire issue; QV 2d registration stamp type R3 with florets on piece with two partial "Specimen" overprints (type RU2); KGV 1d STO postcards in an uncut vertical pair with "LAY EDGE" at base and uncut margins; also British Levant 1902 KEVII 40pa on 2d registration envelope size K handstamped type 8 "Specimen". Great Eastern. 1915 Censored cover to Holland with G.B 1⁄2d and 1d pair cancelled in manuscript and by a London machine, the 2d letter stamp tied by violet "BRAINTREE AND DOCKING" datestamp, Delft backstamp. Part flap missing, otherwise fine and very unusual; letters addressed abroad were not supposed to be sent as railway letters.
