1904 (Jan 5) Christchurch Weekly Press postcard depicting "The Discovery’s Captain" on the front and "The Discovery in Lyttelton Graving Dock" on the reverse, written by Len Burgess, a crew member on the Second Relief Expedition ship "Morning", to Miss Janet Storey in Christchurch. Written on the day the ship reached the ice at McMurdo Sound with the message "We can now see the Discoverys masts. Capt. Scott is on the ice waiting to come on board as soon as we get made fast. He & Dr Wilson are together", posted three days after the ship returned to Lyttelton, with a N.Z 1d tied by Lyttelton squared circle (April 4), and a Christchurch arrival c.d.s. A fine and rare use of this card from the Antarctic, written on the Second Relief Expedition ship "Morning". Photo on Page 7.
