lot # 1047 - france and colonies french colonies
French India. 1921 (Mar 29) Registered cover from Pondicherry to Paris, the stamps washed off, three French India stamps then reaffixed to the reverse with French P.O sealing tape, both sides handstamped "ACCIDENT EN MER / CORRESPONDENCE INONDEE", with a Marseille arrival c.d.s (May 6). Probably from the "Kalyan" which arrived at Marseille on April 18th with water damaged mails; possibly from the "Cordilliere" which arrived at Marseille on May 2nd. An unusual origin for a wreck cover.
Suggested price: £ 200-250
