Wreck Mail - S.S Kalyan. 1921 (Apr 10) Registered cover from Jaffa to England, the stamps washed off and two Palestine stamps reapplied, six "DAMAGED BY SEA / WATER" cachets applied to both sides, with May 4th arrival backstamp. Mail was damaged on the S.S "Kalyan" during a gale in the Mediterranean. Very unusual from Palestine. Photo on Page 29.

1919 (Apr 23) Stampless O.H.M.S cover to "D.M.S, 1st Echelon, E.E.F" with Base A.P.O 2 c.d.s of Alexandria and boxed "AERIAL POST / E.E.F", backstamped upon arrival with F.P.O GM1 skeleton (April 26) at Haifa, flown by the emergency R.A.F air mail service from Alexandria to Ramleh. This aerial service operated form March until May 1919 when communications were disrupted in Egypt by rioting. A fine cover. Photo on Page 29.

1968 (Apr 6) Cover from Harrow to Kfar Saba, Israel, franked 1/-, with violet boxed cachet in Hebrew which translates as "Letter damaged in aeroplane crash". The BOAC flight on April 8th from London to Sydney made an emergency landing when an engine fell off two minutes after its original take-off and the plane caught fire; four passengers and a Stewardess were killed.
