China, Wonderful Pre-WWII Collection. In a splendid Church Chu album, with the album itself being in uncommonly excellent condition. Formed by a U.S. missionary who left China prior to the war, this lovely album contains issues to 1928. Some of the issues present include (used) Scott numbers 1-3, 5-6, 48-51, 53, 55, both 2¢ Red Revenues #79-80, lots of Coiling Dragons, including provincial overprints, #149a on piece, good Junks, a few Treaty Ports etc. We also note (mint) #4, 16-24 (with the 6¢ and 12¢ values used), 27, 28-34 (4¢ and 10¢ values used), plus a lovely 30¢ on 24¢ used, a nice #71, the 4¢ Red Revenue with large surcharge (#82), mint and more. While there are obvious better stamps present, this lovely and historical album would provide a marvelous basis for further expansion. Inspection invited, generally Fine to Very Fine.
Estimate HK$ 30,000 - 40,000.
