1850, 3 Pfennige red, plate III, type 8, nice deep and nice colours, on all sides large margins all round, above and left with dividing lines, Bavarian line system recognisable, with neatly applied double circle cancel "LEIPZIG 4. JAN. 51" on cross ribbon to "Drehbach bei Zwoenitz" and with Ra.2 "ZWÖNITZ 6 JAN 51" forwarded to Ehrenfriedersdorf, in whose ordering district Drebach lay, with Landbote order fee of 10 Pfg. noted on reverse. Minimal creases, otherwise fine and original condition. An attractive and very rare piece in this form. Certificates Pröschold BPP (1985) and Rismondo BPP (2003)

Very attractive and fine condition, without the sand grain holes found in most pieces. Undoubtedly one of the most attractive examples of this scarce variety. "1" and adjacent despatch datestamp "DRESDEN 13 JUL. 58" and two values with overlapping red transit postmark "TOUR T. FORBACH...", on a small envelope to Paris, with a stated additional franking of "2½" Neugroschen. Further reverse transit and arrival cds. on the reverse. An exceptionally late use and the only known fully franked foreign letter of the Frederick August issue.
