1886/96: 'Long Stamp' De La Rue imperforate Plate Proof without Duty Plate (prepared for the 2 s. 6 d. and 5 s. values), a lower right corner marginal block of fifteen (5 x 3) showing Plate Number "1" in margin, printed in mauve on unwatermarked wove paper, unmounted og. Slight marginal closed tear. The adjoining block of ten of this Proof was in the Purves collection (SG, London, June 1981, lot 117). A similar sheet is illustrated in "The De La Rue Collection" edited by Frank Walton RDP on page 6052. (two shades and a 'Value Closer' variety, 9 d. lake (shades) with four examples and a further example with inverted watermark, 10 d. (2), 1 s. with unused examples (8) incl. a corner block of four and a pair with "3 d. 008070" in top margin in red and a single with inverted wmk., 2 s. 6 d. (3), 5 s. (3, one in pale rose, perf. 12½), 10 s. green (2) and £ 1 blue (2); together with five values, incl. the £ 1 blue punctured "OS". Condition generally fine, a scarce selection (30 items) Gi = £ 2'000+.
