Alaska -- Lot of seven mint Arctic Air Mercy Flight Cinderella stamps
Alaska arctic air mercy flight stamps are associated with the 1925 diphtheria epidemic in Nome, Alaska. Serum was urgently needed, but since Nome was located 224 kilometers from the Arctic Circle, it was doubtful whether an airplane would make the trip in winter. A relay of dog teams took the serum from Nenana to Nome. There is no evidence that these were used as charity labels. Still a highly collectible item.
