1927 Atlantic Airmail Flight 'Air Mail / DE PINEDO / 1927' red opt 60c black. Superb VFU on cover tied by 'ST JOHNS N/FLD 20 MAY 1927" machine cancel, with 'TREPASSEY T.P.O. NEWF'D' cds below & at left, sent to Rome in Italy. Stamp in pristine condition with excellent centring, cover with backflap gone & sl vert fold of no significance, extremely fresh & attractive. Unitrade C4 cat C$25,000+++ as loose stamp & cat C$40,000 on cover. SG 163 cat £13,000+++ as loose stamp & cat £19,500 on cover. Only 300 printed and actually only a small fraction survived, as most were used on covers to dignitaries/officials in Italy & around the world.
