French Post Office in Smirna 1853: France 20 c. deep blue, used in combination with 40 c. orange (four fine examples), on 1858 double rate cover from Smirna to Geneva, tied by '3709' petit chiffres with 'Smyrne / Turquie' French P.O. datestamp alongside (March 23). Framed 'PD' in black at left and reverse with Geneva arrival cds (April 1). A fine and most appealing cover.
