Landa of Jerusalem (ND), c. 1930's; 7.9 x 10.9cm, 153pgs; orig. cover w/wear & weakened binding but intact, pristine pages. Publisher Yaakov Eliezer Landa/Landau (1898-1980) was son of R. Eliezer Landa (1873-1946) known by nickname "grandson of the Gr"a [Vilna Gaon]" & who printed the first Hebrew 'Tanach' in Eretz Israel with all-Jewish workers; Yaakov was a member of Agudat Talmidey ha Yeshivot Yerushalyim (sports society of Yeshiva students) c. 1913, served in Ottoman Army c.1915 as bodyguard to senior Ottoman officers & played in famous football match (with David Tidhar) bet. Jews & Turkish officers (1915) which included Mustafa Kemal (Ataturk, future founder of Turkish Republic); continued father's printing business.
