Abecasis", marbled-blue inside liner; printed on milled paper w/large "crown" watermark. Incl. Spanish-titled summary of letter-count + blessings for before/after reading on regular occasions & holidays. Title page lists publishers Samuel Rodriges Mendes, Moses Zarfati De Gerona & David Gomez Da Silva + recalled in 3 cartouches depicting Biblical scenes & quotations: David meeting Jonathan ("The life of my lord shall be bound up in the bonds of life"), Hannah & Samuel, "And she called his name Samuel, for 'I asked him of the Lord'", baby Moses before Batya "And she called his name Moses, because I have drawn him out of the waters". Picart (1673-1733) was French-Protestant designer & engraver, one of most prominent of his time; depicted Jewish religious customs in sympathetic, non-judgemental manner. Cover surface wear in places, wear to bottom edge + front/back bottom corners; splitting bet. cover spine & sides; pages intact, almost no wear, some age stains.
