Black machine overprints on 1923 issue: United States, 5c-1p. and 20c. grey with "R" overprint with additional franking tied by special 6-line cachet "Vuelo NEW YORK - BOGOTA Aereoplano "RECAURTE"..." to Bogota, this flight was carried out by Capt. Mendez, one passenger and 25 covers carrying his signature on front. Captain Mendez struck a wave on landing in Canal Zone and damaged a wing. After necessary repairs were made, the pilots continued to Cartagena, Barranquilla and Girardot, where the plane crashed again. They finally reached Bogota in January, 1929.
