U.S., 1851-61 1¢ - Small Specialized Collection. Mounted one item to page on hand made Exhibition pages, most identified by plate position; comprises (used unless noted) Imperf type II (7): 7 stamps & two covers; Imperf type IV (9): 17 stamps (one unused, small tear) & one cover, Perforated type II (22): one, used, small tear, soiled, counted as used; Perforated type IIIa (22): unused slightly soiled; Perforated type V (24): 11; Perforated type Va (24 var.): 8 including one unused and a faulty pen-canceled pair; also includes five collateral items: a $10 Bank Note of the Bank of Georgetown, S.C. printed by Toppan, Carpenter & Casilear featuring the same Franklin portrait used for the stamp (along with the same Washington portrait used for the three-Cent stamps) and four 1903 Schernikov essays reprinted from the original plates: 63-E1c (black), 63-E2a (yellow brown), 63-E3e (black) and 63-E9e (black). Condition of the stamps is a mixed but mostly Fine.
