French Post Office in Smirna 1865/69: Entire letters (3) from the same correspondence from Smirna to New York, USA each endorsed "via Liverpool per English or American Steamer", one struck with "SMYRNE / TURQUIE" despatch cds (8 Jan 1865), the 1867 entire with octagonal "SMYRNE / PAQ. FR. X" datestamp (Paquebot 'Volga') and the 1869 with same datestamp struck in blue (Paquebot 'Tanais'). The earlier entire apparently a triple rate and charged 90 c. on arrival, the 1867 entire struck with Depreciated Currency datestamp "N.Y. 30 AM. PKT / OR U.S. NOTES 41" datestamp on arrival and the 1869 entire with two strikes of the "Paquebot / de la / Mediterranee" handstamp in red chaarged 39 cents due. A scarce trio.
