British Protectorate (1815-1864) 1851 (Dec 5): Prepaid cover to Boulogne, France endorsed "By the English Steamer" and "Via Marseilles", struck with poor hooded CEFALONIA despatch with manuscript "3" (pence) above, and superb "♚ / PAID AT CEPHALONIA" in black with "5" (pence) rate alongside. Reverse with MALTA transit cds and Boulogne arrival (Dec 17). A superb strike of this rare marking Gi = £ 1'800.
