British Protectorate (1815-1864) 1827 (April 4/16): Entire letter from Corfu to London from the Major of the 28th Regt., struck with superb large oval  "OFFICIO DELLA POSTA GENERALE / CORFU" Coat of Arms cachet in black with "11" (pence) in red manuscript; reverse with hooded CORFU despatch datestamp (April 23) in black. Charged "3/2d." due to pay upon arrival (June 22). Opens well for Exhibit display, all strikes very fine.
