lot # 1113 - ägypten (königreich)
1926: Inauguration of Port Fouad, the set of four values used, all cancelled on first day (Dec 21) at Port Fouad Post Office, the low values heavily cancelled, just 1'520 sets issued, the rare 50 pi. purple with cert. RPSL (2013) Gi = £ 2'250.
Note: The certificate states 'stained in top margin' which, in this describer's opinion is unfounded. Given that three people died in the stampede towards the Post Office on December 21, 1926 it would not be surprising, however there is no trace of staining on this stamp or indeed on the RPSL's photograph.
