Airmail 1919: First Baghdad-Cairo RAF Flight, cover to Portsmouth endorsed on obverse "On Active Serivice", franked on reverse with Sept 1918 ¼ a. 5 pa. dull purple-brown, ½ a. on 10 pa. green and 1 a. on 20 pa. red all tied by framed "POSTAL SERVICE M.E.F. / AERIAL MAIL. BAGHDAD-CAIRO / BY 31st WING R.A.F. MESOPOTAMIA" cachet struck in red with despatch cds "F.P.O. 55" alongside in black (Feb 24) with arrival (March 1) in black. Overall tone spots but a cover of enormous rarity. Muller #3 = 20'000 pts.
