1808/59: Mail to and from Italy, the range of covers/entires (17) with 1808-1810 entires from Venice to Corfu; 1829/30 entire letters from Corfu to Ancona all with ship endorsements and two with framed "Sanita in Ancona / Netto fuori e dentro" disinfection cachets in black; 1832 entire to Venice with Coast of Arms / Corfu cachet and Consular seal on reverse; 1841 entire to Naples with oval "Agenzia Del Lloyd Austriaco / Ancona" in black; 1851 cover from Livorno via Triest to Cefalonia 1859 covers (2) from "Zakynthos" to Venice with despatch cds's in blue etc.

British Protectorate 1815-1864 1833/69: Cerigo, group of entire letters (3) with 1833 entire letter to Corfu struck with rare framed "FRANCA" in black with hooded Cerigo and arrival of Corfu on reverse; 1843 entire from Ithaca to Cerigo with hooded datestamps of Ithaca and Cerigo in black; and 1869 cover with 1868 20 l. blue (Mi. 27) used with dotted "112" numeral lozenge on cover to Athens.

Syria under Egyptian administration, Ibrahim Pasha period, 1835 (July 2): Entire letter written in Italian from the consular agency of Tuscany in Beirut to that in Malta, a crisp seal handstamp of the Berutti consul on reverse closing the entire, transported to Livorno and disinfected, struck on reverse with two-line framed "LAZZARETTO SAN / ROCCO DI LIVORNO", closed after disinfection with indistinct "LAZZARETTO DI S. ROCCO" wax seal (both in Meyer - Disinfected Mail on page 189). Further journey to Malta, presumably by Tuscan vessel, handwritten arrival note Feb 2, 1836 inside. A most interesting entire.

Tassa" in red and arrival (Sept 25) on reverse; 1811 entire from Minister of Marine & Colonies in Paris to Corfu with str. line "FRANCA" in black; 1839 and 1840 entires with large oval Coat of Arms / Corfu cachets in black each mailed via Trieste (one with rare "Jonia" in red); 1841 entire from Zante to Paris with hooded datestamps of both Zante and Corfu; two 1841 covers from"Chambre de Pairs" to Corfu both fully prepaid at 48 kreuzer to Corfu. A fine group.

British Protectorate 1814-1864 1837/63: The selection on leaves (15 covers/entires + 2 fronts) with study of the small double arc datestamps in Greek and accompanying "Posta Pagata" markings; with 1837 entire from Paxos to Corfu with "POSTA PAGATA" in black, 1842 entire from Corfu by Austrian steamer with "POSTA PAGATA" in black, 1852 entire from Zante to Corfu with fair "♚ / PAID AT ZANTE" in green and fine "CORFU" arrival in black (June 11), 1855 entire from Corfu to Marseille and disinfected, 1859 entire from Xania (Crete) to Cerigo with "KYTHIRAI" cds of receipt, 1861 cover front with "ITHAKA" cds and "POSTA PAGATA" both in blue, 1863 cover from Cefalonia to Lefkas with hooded despatch and "LEFKAS" datestamp in blue; a useful group.

Syria under Egyptian administration, Ibrahim Pasha period, delivered by Egyptian official post from Aleppo to Alexandria, 1840 (Sept 3): Entire letter written in Italian and adressed to the Sardinian consular agent in Alexandria. Sent by the Egyptian Governmental Post with manuscript note on obverse "Colla posta del Governo - porto pagato - il Console sardo in Aleppo" (By the Post of the Government - Postage Paid - The Sardinian Consul in Aleppo). On the reverse in Arab "POSTAGE PAID 2". Interesting text "Mi preggio confermare le mio 20. 25. dello scorso colla poste che settimanalmente parte da questa per il Cairo". One of three letters known with the postage fee paid, a real gem of Arab and Egyptian postal history.

British Protectorate 1815-1864 1831 (April 1): Incoming entire letter from Ancona to Corfu struck on arrival by two strikes of scarce Small Coat of Arms "OFFICIO DELLA POSTA GENERALE / CORFU" cachet in black with rate "6" (pence) inserted in red manuscript. Reverse with hooded CORFU datestamp (April 20) in black. Scarce and fine cover.
Note: The Small Coat of Arms cachet was only in use between 1829 and 1833, concurrent with the Large Coat of Arms cachet (known between 1825 and 1841).

British Protectorate 1815-1864 1861 (April 15): Incoming entire letter from Cairo to Corfu, Ionian Islands prepaid '1' piastre in manuscript, struck with Type IV "POSTA EUROPEA / ALEXANDRIA"cds (April 18) in blue and transferred to Austrian Post Office with "ALEXANDRIEN" cds (same day) and "FRANCO" handstamp below with "15" (kreuzer) rate paid denoted by crayon cross on obverse. Small "CORFU" arrival cds (April 22) in red at left. Edge wear to the entire but extremely rare: in this describer's opinion the sole known Posta Europea cover to the Ionian Islands. British Protectorate 1815-1864 1849: Entire letter from Hernösand, Sweden to Malta via Corfu, Ionian Islands; struck with high boxed HERNÖSAND despatch in black (Feb 18) and thence via Hamburg (March 2) with datestamps on reverse in black; transit cds of small "CORFU" in black (March 16) where rated at "1/3½d." - 3d. local Ionian fee and balance equivalent 30 keuzers: Hamburg-Trieste (18 kr.) and Lloyd Austriaco (12 kr.), with a further 5d. charged for Corfu to Malta with final amount due "1/8½d." marked in manuscript on reverse. A magnificent entire and a rare routing: the sole such recorded, unique Facit = 10'000 Skr.
