1937/51: Mixed group with Dhow issue cover bearing nine values from ½ a. - 1 r. brown used on First Day of Issue; similar cover sent registered franked by seven values ½ a. - 3½ a. grey-blue, and unused examples of 1 a. - 8 a. (and duplication), 1 r., 2 r. and scarce 5 r. deep purple with large part browned og.; 1939 set of 13 unused, first Seiyun set and Makalla sets of eleven values on covers, Seiyun and Mukalla 1942 sets of eleven, Coronation set and 1951 Currency change set of eight used etc. A generally fine and scarce group Gi = £ 1'125+.

Kathiri State of Seiyun 1946 (Oct 15): Victory issue 2½ a. blue overprinted in red, an unused example, variety "Overprint Inverted", corner marginal from top left corner of the sheet, fresh and very fine, unmounted og. A magnificent example of a very rare stamp Gi = £ 1'400.

1854/55: India 1 a. dull red, Die II, a used horizontal pair with large margins all round with 1856 4 a. black on 1858 cover from Aden endorsed "via Marseilles" to London, tied by bold strikes of the "124" obliterator in black and by "London / Paid" cds (June 12) in red. Framed "INDIA PAID" at left and reverse with double arc "ADEN" despatch cds in black (May 26). Charged "9d." due to pay upon receipt in manuscript. The 1 anna pair has been lifted for checking and replaced slightly out of alignment to alleviate a small hole in the cover. Despite this, a remarkable and most attractive mixed issue franking. Cert. 1863/72: 6 d. blue-green, a single example used on 1877 cover from Port Louis to Bordeaux endorsed "via Aden & Marseille" tied by neat "Mauritius / B53" duplex (Sept 13) in black. Carried on Steamer "Godavery" with octagonal "POSS. AN. / PAQ. FR. T No. 2" Paquebot datestamp in red at left of same day (Salles fig. 2151). Reverse with Marseille cds (Oct 12). A fine cover.

Aden Sub-Office at Dthali 1899: India Queen Victoria 3 p. aniline carmine, a single and the famous "Croft" block of four 1 a. carmine and 1902 Edward VII ½ a. green (2) all cancelled by circular "DTHALI" datestamps in black: the block beautifully cancelled "DTHALI / 26.MY.03" in the year the sub-Office opened, the ½ a. adhesives cancelled in Nov 1905 and 1906 respectively. A very rare group.

India cancelled "124" Obliterator (Robertshaw Type 9) 1860/78: India 8 p. purple on white, no wmk. used examples (6), watermarked 1865 8 p. purple used (2), 1865 ½ a. blue pair, 2 a. orange (5), 4 a. green (5), 1866/78 4 a. green (6) and scarce 6 a. 8 p. slate (2), the selection on album leaves each stamp neatly cancelled by "124" barred numeral obliterators of ADEN in black (three stamps cancelled in blue ink). A scarce group, condition varies but generally fine strikes (28 items) Gi = £ 1'200+.

India cancelled "124" Obliterator (Robertshaw Type 14) 1867/73: Official India 4 a. green, a single example and 8 a. carmine, wmk'd, in a used block of six (3 x 2), both the single and multiple cancelled by clear "A / 124" in diamond thought to have been used at Aden Cantonment (sub-Office A). Both items with superb strikes of this rare marking well struck in black - the block believed to be the sole such known.
