Crimean War 1853: France 20 c. blue, three examples, margins good to touched, used on 1854 registered cover from an encampment near Varna, Bulgaria prior to embarkation, to Dijon, France tied by "AOD" dotted lozenge with "CHARGÉ" at right and 'P.P.' both in red and "ARMÉE D'ORIENT / BAU. D" datestamp (July 24). Reverse with small part of flap missing but with five red wax seals, Dijon cds's (Aug 7 and 8) and 'Is-S-Tille' arrival cds (Aug 8). A rare registered usage. Cert.
