French PO's in the Levant 1867: France laureated 80 c. carmine, a single example used on 1872 entire letter from Beirut to Tarare, tied by "Anchor" lozenge of dots in black and carried on the "Dupleix" with octagonal "BEYROUTH / PAQ. FR. X No. 5" Paquebot datestamp alongside (July 16) in black (Salles fig. 905). Reverse with Marseille cds (Aug 1) and Tarare arrival of the following day.
