lot # 4041 - grossbritannien
1880: 1½ d. venetian red, in combination with 1881 1 d. purple, revenue stamp, used on cover, from Sunbury, Surrey to Berlin, Germany, dated 7 February 1882, tied by the 'C96' duplex of Sunbury in black. To the reverse a black arrival cds (9 February). Very fine and rare. A wonderful combination of the fiscal stamp which had only very limited stocks made available for postal use. This is the only recorded example of such a mixed franking.
