Stade Auktionen

Germany

The auction house was founded in 1991 by Mr. Walter Dienger and has subsequently been run successfully by Daniel Stade for more than 10 years. Mr. Stade revived the auction business and within two years and five highly successful auctions later, Stade-Auctions had already become one of the most renowned addresses worldwide for collectors and friends of old picture postcards, stamps and coins.

Reliability and competence in carrying out the auctions has engaged the interest of consignors of high quality material and more and more interesting and high-quality single lots and substantial collections have found their way to the Stade-auctions.

Most certainly, the highlight so far was Bauhauskarte Nr. 5 of a Paul Klee lithograph. For the first time a hammer price of more than 20,000 euros was achieved for a single picture postcard. It is regarded to be the most expensive picture postcard in the world. The hammer price of €7,000 for Bauhauskarte Nr. 4, exhibition 1923, in the last auction is not uncommon. Best results are always obtained with Thiele postcards (1,200 euros), Mountain Faces (1,100 euros) or topography postcards (550 euros).

Our auctions for picture postcards, stamps and coins are held 3 times per year in our premises in Grenzach. We are pleased to present a wide range of exciting and impressive philatelic material that has been entrusted to us by private collectors. Besides fine selections from international collections, we are always proud to be able to offer you thematically interesting material, especially in the field of art. We would be pleased to welcome you personally at our upcoming auctions and you are always welcome to join us online. Our beautiful region, including the lovely city of Basel, is a wonderful travel destination.
