British Post Office in Smirna 1867: Great Britain 10 d. deep red-brown, a single example, slightly rounded corner, used on small 1873 cover from Smirna to New York, USA tied by bold strike of "F87" obliterator in black. "SMYRNA" code A cds in black at left (May 2), 'London / Paid' transit in red (May 12) and "New York / Paid All" arrival (May 23) in red with "2" cents US credit mark all on obverse. Back flap with small repair to protect the adhesive but a delightful and very scarce usage.
