British Protectorate 1815-1864 1849 (Oct 17): Entire double rate letter from Zante to Athens, prepaid at local rate with "6" (pence) local rate in manuscript, with hooded "ZANTE" datestamp (Oct 17) and "♚  / PAID AT ZANTE" in blue-green with manuscript "10" (pence) British rate also prepaid alongside. Small acid ink fault at lower right but a rare usage with superb strikes Gi = £ 1'400.
