Auction 224 - Romania

1868: 18 bani vermilion on yellowish, a fine large margined example used on 1870 cover to Tirgovistea struck with CÂMPU-LUNG datestamp (Aug 26) with framed DUPÂ / PLECARE (Too Late) marking alongside, the adhesive cancelled on the following day with CÂMPU-LUNG cds, all in blue (Kiriac fig. 494). Reverse with Ploesti transit in blue (29/8), 'Bucuresti / Dim' cds in black (31/8), 'Ploesti / Dim' cds in blue (1/9) and eventual Tirgovistea arrival cds (2/9) in black. A fine and unusual cover.
