Alexandria transit on 7/11/49 and Malta Lazaret seal applied in transit for purification made by three slits. Handwritten "24" indicate tax for recipient. SCARCE DESTINATION EARLY MAIL FROM THE FRENCH POST OFFICE.

Lebanon French Offices. Folded letter sent Rombervillers, from a French soldier stationed in Beirut part of the French expeditionary force in Syria. Properly franked as domestic mail with 20ct cancelled by diamond of dots "CESA" stuck with "CORPS EXP. DE SYRIE Beo A" postmark dated 15/2/1861. Several datestamps on the back. RARE.
