The enclosed letter is dated 1856. Letter mentions the Fremont Club.
This "Campaign" cover is one of the earliest types of advertising covers. It was used to rouse up interest for General Fremont in the 1856 Presidential campaign. He stood as a Republican against Fillmore (American party) a previous President and Buchanan (Democrat) who was elected.
