The "Gaisen-Maru" operated from the Japanese port of Otaru and plied the waters around Russian Maritime Province and Korea. She ran for only 9 months, between 21st May 1902 and 12th May 1903, the route being closed by ice from 30th Nov 1902 to 20th Feb 1903
