lot # 4141 - grossbritannien
1840: 1 d. black, plate 1a, lettered EB, four good to large margins all round, used on cover, from Stonehaven to Aberdeen, Scotland, dated 16 July 1840, tied by a crisp and very fine red Maltese Cross, endorsed rather nicely "Labeled" lower left. To the reverse a fine Stonehaven rectangular three-line datestamp in blac. Very pretty example with just some inconsequential wrinkling to the wrapper and a faint water stain top right none of which affects the adhesive. A scarce early usage Gi AS2 = £ 1'000.
