Recess and perforated by Perkins Bacon 1861: 2 d. blue, wmk. Swan sideways, perf. clean-cut 14-16, a single example with a vertical strip of five, used on 1865 double rate cover to Preston, Lancashire all tied by the PERTH / GPO duplexes in black (Oct 28) in black, with manuscript "Posted Oct 25th 1865" at lower left. Carried on the "Madras" to Galle, the "Mooltan" to Suez, and from Alexandria via Malta to Southampton on the "Massilia" arriving Dec 22nd. Preston arrival on reverse of the following day. Some edge wear due to journey, a most attractive cover.
