Judea: Herod the Great, Pruta c.22-10/9 BCE; 13 x 13.5mm, 1.75g. Anchor with inscription / double cornucopia; based on Hen-1188.

Roman governors of Judea: Valerius Gratus (Procurator under Tiberius), 15-26 AD. Æ bronze Prutah (2.4g, 12mm). Obv. Unclear as with residue (would be "Tib Kai Cap" legend (Tiberius Caesar) in wreath); rev: Palm branch with right bent tip, legend "JULIA" & date "LE" (year 5); H-646/1339, AJC-18, TJC-328. Good fine

Herodian dynasty > Agrippa I (37-44 AD): AE Pruta year 6 (J'lem mint); fringed canopy & leg. BACIΛEWC AΓPIΠA / Lς "Year 6" flanking 3 ears of barley; 17mm, 2.6g. Similar to H-1244, but this Hendin unlisted variety: canopy base 'thicker' without tipped ends & legend "BA..." begins at canopy base, not above (as H-1244).

Domitian (Agrippa II under Flavian rule) > Samaria > Caesarea Maritima, 83-84 CE (year 24); 16.75 x 19.5mm, 4.2 g: laureate head right & leg. ΔOMET KAIC ΓEΡMA / Nike standing right, left foot on helmet, inscribing shield attached to palm tree & leg. ETΠ KΔ BA AΓΡIΠΠ; RPC 2264; Meshorer 24, H-1317.

Italy > Lucania > Thurium, Stater (Nomos) 425-400 BCE; 19.5mm, 5.2g. Obv.: head of Athena in helmet bound with olive (no Φ mark in field - either artist's sign. or coin's value). Rev.: bull walking to left, head lowered; ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ above; beneath bull is a little bird; in exergue is a fish. Lump on upper back flank may be the intended Φ mark from original design. Cast bronze(?)

Ptolemaic Kingdom > Cyprus: Ptolemy II Philadelphos, 285-246 BC, bronze obol, Salamis(?) mint; size: 20x20.5mm; weight: 7.45g. Obv. head Alexander the Great right, wearing elephant scalp headdress; rev. ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ leg., eagle standing left on thunderbolt, head left, wings closed, EY over XAP monogram left. Seleucid Kingdom (Kings of Syria) > Seleukos IV bronze serrate denomination, 187-175 BCE; head of Laodice IV (wife of Seleukos IV, then of Antiochos IV), right / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟY leg. & head of elephant left; 15mm, 4.9g.; ref: SCII 1477.2c, SNC 1027, KEM 1106, Hoover 619.

Seleucid Kingdom > Antiochus IV (175-164 BCE) serrated; diademed, radiate head of Antiochus (no monogram visible) + border of dashes / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟY leg. (abbreviated), veiled & draped goddess standing, facing front holding long scepter + border of dots; 14mm, 2.65g. Hendin-1107.

Greece > Arabia > Nabataea: Aretas II, 110-96 BCE; size: 13.5x16.5mm; weight: 3.75g. Helmeted head of Athena right / Nike standing left, holding wreath - appears to be overstruck on a Ptolemaic coin.

Greece > Arabia > Nabatea: Rabbell II & Shuqailat II, laureate / Crossed Cornucopias, leg. between them in two lines רבאל (Rabbel) / שׂקילת (Shaqilat) & in exergue אמה (Mother). Petra mint, c. 70-76 CE; 15.5 x 15.75mm, 3.2g; ref: Meshorer 146.

Syria > Laodicea ad Mare > Caracalla: billon Tetradrachm of Antioch, 244-249 CE; 26 x 24mm, 11.25g. AYT K MA•••ANTѠNEINOC CEB, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right / ΔHMAPX EΞ YΠATOC TO B, eagle standing facing, head turned left; Δ-E on either side of eagle's head, star between legs. Prieur 249.
