Together a nice exhibition page for this extremly rare cancel. ÷ 1864: rarer Schiffspoststempel "MALTA - PALERMO - PIROSCAFI POSTALI ITALIANI" (9. August 1864) auf Inlandsbrief der zweiten Gewichtsstufe von Catania nach Messina. Ausführliches Attest Giorgio Bifani. Dazu eine lose Marke mit diesem Stempel vom 27. Dezember 1864. Zusammen eine schöne Albumseite zu diesem seltenen Stempel. ÷ 1864: busta inoltrata via mare affrancata in doppio porto con due valori di 15 cent. celeste chiaro. La busta diretta da Catania per Messina reca quale annullatore il raro annullo a banderulo della Compagnia di Navigazione Floria "MALTA - PALERMO - PIROSCAFI POSTALI ITALIANI 9 AGOSTO 1864". In autumn 1863 Ita 1863, October. First usage of a cancelling machine in Italy. In autumn 1863 Italy bought one PEARSON HILL cancelling machine from De La Rue as part of the deal, which lead to the Italian De La Rue series, issued on December 1st, 1863. This machine was tried in Florence for a few days in October 1863 before it was transferred to Turin, where another test (March to May 1864) was done. Italy has not purchased more copies of this machine, the machine used for these experiments was later used in Florence for arrival markings (1868/1869). Stamps and especially envelopes from 1863 are very rare, in most cases the PEARSON HILL cds was used to cancel the stamps. The usage of an old Tuscan mute rhombic killer is only registered two times. In addition, this is the first known date of the Pearson Hill cds used in Italy. The stamp tied by a mute rhombic killer shows a printing evariaty (slightly shift upwards) and wide margins but has faults, the letter shows some stains, but also on the reverse an offset of the canceling machine. A very rare combination, this numeral cancel was only used between May and October 1866. Italienischer Feldpoststempel auf österreichisch-venetischer 5 Soldi Marke der 5. Ausgabe von 1864. Die Kombination italienischer Feldpoststempel und österreichisch-venetischer Marken ist äußerst selten, dieser Nummernstempel "XVII." ist nur zwischen Mai und Oktober 1866 genutzt worden. Attest Caffaz. ÷ 1866: Terza Guerra d'Indipendenza Italiana. Annullo numerale a punti di posta militare "XVII." sul francobollo austriaco-veneziani di 5 s. rosa (Va emissione, Sas. n 43). The letter was underpaid, it was therefore franked with 40 C. Italian postage due stamp. The very rare "Con Bastim. Mercant" straightline was applied on arrival in GENOVA.
