1937, South Africa, CORONATION PIGEONGRAM: Commemorative envelope for this Pigeon Post organized by the Hottentots Holland Homing Union together with remnants of leg rubber mounting sheet and the flimsy message carried by pigeon from Worcester to the Strand. Cover franked pair KGVI ½d's, contemporary newspaper clipping on reverse. Bears 1d fundraising label. approximately 200 flown. The event was organized in conjunction with coronation celebrations in order to raise hospital funds.
