Auction #504 General Stamps Sale

Stampless cover (postage-free for inland mail due to recent earthquake according to Law 2745) addressed to Athens, canc. "ΛΥΞΟΥΡΙΟΝ * 11-Χ-53" & rural (dotted) "57" of first Cretan type, arr. machine "ΑΘΗΝΑΙ * ΑΦΙΞΙΣ * 14-X-53". Due to a loss of the new rural canceling device, the old one (with the same no.) from the Cretan State was used. A rare cover which was butchered when opened & crudely attempted to be repaired with sellotape on back.
