1937 (May) Hindenburg Disaster, an exceptional cover franked by 1936 special set of two tied by Sieger type IX "on board" cds of 5.5.1937, singed at top and partly at left though showing 50pf and much of 75pf intact, addressed to New York City and contained in US Post Office glassine carrier with three Post Office seals on reverse.
Wonderful showpiece, one of only a few dozen surviving covers with the type IX cancel and a great "foundation" or "capstone" item for a Zeppelin or "crash mail" collection.
