1 real yellow, 'Morelia' District name overprint, a mint example without gum, from Plate III, Position 55 on sheet of 200, showing the variety '4 Reales inverted Correos Mejico ribbon across Hidalgo's Eyes in Red'. A fresh and fine example of this rarity as illustrated in Celis Cano (page 28) and in Franco Vannotti's article in 'Mexicana' (April 1989, pages 107-108). Vannotti's conjecture was that the 1856 issue of Mexico was printed not with five transfer rolls (one for each value) but with one single transfer roll utilised for all the five denominations of value. A rare stamp.rnrnProvenance: Franco Vannotti (April 1989).192: Mexico First Issues 1856-1861 The Peter W. Broennimann Collection
