Danish Possessions. 1798-1922 Entire letters, covers and cards written up on album pages including 1798 cover with enclosed letter and c.1802 cover both from Fort St. George to "His Excellency General Anker, Governor at Tranquebar" both endorsed "service" with oval framed "POST FREE" or "Post Paid / Fort St George" and separate "10 May" date; 1848 entire letter to Tanjore endorsed service with oval framed "TRANQUEBAR / FREE" (unrecorded by Giles); 1841 entire letter with red boxed "TRANQUEBAR / Paid" and manuscript date and 1856 entire letter (stamp removed) with similar boxed Paid handstamp incorporating the date; 1868 entire to Mauritius franked by three 1a6p pairs and 4a, all seven stamps cancelled "152" within a diamond of bars, red crescent shaped "INDIA PAID", "TRANQUEBAR" double arc datestamp and "2d / TO PAY" of Mauritius; 1871 registered entire letter with 1⁄2a pair and 4a each tied by the 152 numeral and red boxed "REGISTERED" handstamp with manuscript "Tranquebar" and a "TRANQUEBAR" double arc datestamp; 1883 cover with 2a, 4a tied "TRANQUEBAR / M-21" duplex; 1888 registered entire letter with seven 1⁄2a stamps each cancelled "M" with boxed "R / TRANQUEBAR" and a Tranquebar c.d.s; 1890 cover with 1⁄2a (2) and 1a (2), the four stamps each tied by the "M" cancel; later QV and KEVII Tranquebar items with single ring c.d.s (6, one on an Official postcard, three registered with boxed "R / TRANQUEBAR"), double ring c.d.s (10, one on a 1902 postcard to Japan via Hong Kong) or squared circles (5); Money Order receipt with boxed "TRANQUEBAR" and datestamps of Pondicherry and Tranquebar; 1922 registered cover with the registration label handstamped straight line "TRANQUEBAR"; and ingoing QV postcards with arrival datestamps (9). Also an 1829 piece with boxed "SERAMPORE / POST OFFICE / 18", and QV 1⁄2a envelope used in 1904 with "SERAMPORE" c.d.s. (44). Photo on Page 166.
