ITALIAN OFFICES IN EGYPT - France, 1870, cover sent from Port Said to Marseille, franked with Egypt 2x1Pi Sphinx paying double rate letter fee, tied by "V.R. POSTE EGIZIANE*PORTO_SAID". Letter was sent via French P.O. at Alexandria where 2x40c perforated Empire stamps was applied, tied by "5080" numerlas, with Alexandria departure c.d.s. alongside. Front shows red maritime "PAQ.ANG 1*MARSEILLE" c.d.s. At the back Italian "V.R.POSTE EGIZIANE*ALESSANDRIA" transit and Marseilles arrival. Very attractive mixed franking double rate cover.
